ERCP, or endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, is a procedure used to diagnose and treat problems with the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas. It combines X-ray imaging with the use of an endoscope,
which is a long, flexible, lighted tube. The scope is guided through your mouth and throat, then down the oesophagus, stomach, and the first part of the small intestine by your healthcare provider. Your doctor can examine
the insides of these organs to look for problems. Following that, he or she will insert a tube through the scope and inject a dye. On X-ray, this highlights the organs.
